What is Carfax Abbey?

Carfax Abbey originated as a free dial-up Bulletin Board System where people could use their home computers to chat, play games, leave messages, and download files to play with.   Since the days of pre-internet hysteria, Carfax has adapted into a web based community, where I've tried to re-create the old BBS feel.
